Christmas History

The sphere is filled up with variety of religions and Christianity is one of that constituting around 1/3rd part of world and 2.1 billion of world’s population.  The Christian year is organised around a series of festivals that celebrate the life of Jesus Christ. The best known of these are Christmas and Easter which provides the main focus of the year with special services in church and celebrations at home.
Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ and is a time of peace, joy and goodwill. It is important to Christians because according to their belief ,it is a celebration of God sending his only son to Earth in order to bring everlasting life to humanity. Christmas is the most widely celebrated of all Christians festivals.
The birth of Jesus is celebrated on 25th December by most Christians, but the Orthodox celebrates it on Epiphany. This date was made official in 375 A.D, when it was officially announced that the birth of Jesus would be privileged on this day i.e. 25th December Churches are decorated with a model of the stable where Jesus was born, with figures of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds and the Wise men.
